York Manor Celebrates First Anniversary with Glamorous James Bond Gala

In October, the York Manor team, it’s residents and wider local community came together to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the specialist dementia and residential care home. The sensational gala evening was the perfect opportunity to say thank you and show appreciation to the care home team who have worked tirelessly over the past 12 months since it’s opening in October 2024.

Residents, their families, staff and local community members enjoyed an evening of music, fine dining and sparkle. It was lovely to see the York Manor care home being a central hub of community life in the county of York.

The evening’s entertainment featured singer Sarah Hewson and her “Licence to Sing” performance of classic Bond themes. The in-house chef served a Bond-worthy menu, including crayfish sliders and smoked salmon blinis, followed by a chocolate and vanilla cake finished with edible gold.

Resident Sheila Hodgson, 90, said,

“It was a lovely party, and I met the Mayor of York – he shook my hand! My daughter came too, and we wore sparkly tops. The food was delicious, especially the cake.”

York Manor Care Home’s Award Winning Team

The evening also celebrated the fabulous achievement of York Manor’s care home team. Activities Organiser, Carla Omerta, recently won The Care Home Activities Organiser Award at the Yorkshire and Humber Care Awards. Carla will represent York Manor and Tanglewood Care Homes at the National Finals in February 2026.

Her win reflects the home’s commitment to meaningful activities and resident wellbeing.
