This week, we came together to show our support for breast cancer awareness through the ‘Wear it pink’ campaign. In the spirit of this wonderful cause, we organized a delightful coffee morning and a delectable cake stall.
Our bake selection was nothing short of spectacular, featuring mouthwatering treats like red velvet cheesecake brownies, rocky road, carrot cake, chocolate cookies, snickerdoodle biscuits, plum loaf, French fancies, and cake slices. These delectable offerings were lovingly baked and generously donated by our dedicated team members, as well as their family and friends.
During the coffee morning, our doors were open to a diverse crowd, including our outstanding ‘Lions,’ team members’ families, residents’ families, and former team members who came to join in the festivities. Laughter and conversation flowed as freely as the tea and coffee, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that everyone savored.
Our team members exhibited great enthusiasm for the cause by sporting an array of pink attire. Some, like Nicola and Kim, dyed their hair pink or added pink hair extensions. Others adorned themselves with pink hairbands, shoes, and socks, while pink ribbons graced our residents’ hair, and they too sported pink clothing and cozy pink cardigans. The entire room was a sea of pink, a true testament to our commitment.
Before the coffee morning, our residents enjoyed coloring pink ribbons, which we used as part of our table displays. On the day of the event, we offered various activities for everyone to enjoy, including spot the difference, word searches, and other classic pastimes.
The ‘Wear it pink’ campaign is one of the most significant fundraising events in the UK. Throughout breast cancer awareness month, thousands of people participate in ‘Wear it pink’ events in their communities, including homes, schools, and workplaces. Over the past two decades, people have worn pink and had an immense amount of fun while raising over £39 million in the process. It’s an incredible achievement, and the journey continues.
At Toray Pines, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who joined us on this special day to support such a noble cause and enjoy a wonderful social morning. We had a fantastic time, indulging guilt-free in the name of charity, and we’re already looking forward to our next event next year.
Once again, a heartfelt thank you from the pink-filled heart of Toray Pines!
