Residents at Toray Pines Care Home recently enjoyed a memorable day out in Skegness, revisiting cherished seaside memories while creating new ones with friends and staff.
The much-anticipated excursion proved to be a highlight for many residents, with the popular Lincolnshire resort evoking fond recollections of childhood holidays and family trips from years gone by. Several residents shared stories of visiting Skegness as children, while others reminisced about bringing their own families to the seaside for traditional days out.
The day began with a visit to Skegness Aquarium, where residents explored a fascinating array of marine life. Colourful fish, unusual sea creatures and large display tanks captured everyone’s attention, while a live view of scuba divers working inside one of the aquarium’s tanks provided an unexpected highlight.
Following the visit, residents enjoyed a traditional seaside lunch of fish and chips, offering the perfect opportunity to relax, socialise and continue sharing memories of past holidays and family adventures.
The outing concluded with a leisurely stroll along the seafront, allowing residents to take in the sights, sounds and atmosphere of the coast before treating themselves to ice cream to round off the day.
Throughout the trip, there was plenty of laughter, conversation and reminiscence as residents reflected on happy moments from their younger years. Staff said it was particularly rewarding to see residents reconnecting with places and experiences that held special significance for them.
