Residents from Richard House recently enjoyed a heartwarming day at the seaside, travelling to Skegness with Myley Tours for an outing filled with sunshine, laughter and treasured memories.
The popular coastal destination provided the perfect setting for residents to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of a traditional British seaside visit. From sampling classic fish and chips to treating themselves to ice creams and freshly made doughnuts, there was no shortage of smiles throughout the day.
One of the highlights for many was the opportunity to stroll along the beach, kick off their shoes and feel the sand beneath their feet. Residents spent time sharing stories, enjoying the sea air and making the most of a day that brought back fond memories for many.
To mark the occasion, each resident was able to bring home a special souvenir as a reminder of a day filled with friendship, fun and nostalgia.
The care home expressed its gratitude to team members Chloe, Lisa, Beccie and Kirsty, whose support and dedication helped ensure the trip was both enjoyable and memorable for everyone involved.
Family members were quick to praise the outing. Simon, whose mother attended the trip, said: “Amazing. Thank you so much for taking our mum there. I’m sure she will have loved it.”
Another resident’s daughter shared her appreciation, commenting: “Aw, love this. Mum always loved the seaside. Thank you for taking her.”
Lifestyle Manager Lisa explained that the trip held particular significance for one resident, who had often spoken about visiting Skegness during her childhood and had expressed a wish to return. “We were delighted that she was able to revisit a place that meant so much to her and experience those special memories once again,” she said.
The successful outing provided residents with an opportunity to reconnect with cherished memories, enjoy time with friends and create new experiences together. It was a day that perfectly demonstrated the positive impact that meaningful activities and community outings can have on residents’ wellbeing and quality of life.
