Residents from Abbey Wood Lodge enjoyed a captivating journey through time in January, with a cultural excursion to The Atkinson in Southport.
The morning was dedicated to exploring the rich heritage of the Sefton area, as residents immersed themselves in the museum’s extensive local history galleries. For many, the standout feature of the trip was the renowned Egyptian exhibition. Getting up close to ancient artifacts and learning about the mysteries of the Nike proved to be a “fantastic experience” that sparked lively discussion among the group.
The outing offered more than just a history lesson; it provided a vital opportunity for social connection and community engagement.
“It is so good to be out and about in our local community” noted one of the residents. Seeing the artifacts up close was a real highlight for everyone”
After a busy morning of discovery, the group retreated to the museum cafe. There we enjoyed a well – earned round of hot drinks and delicious cakes – the perfect accompaniment for reflecting on the morning’s discoveries.
The trip was made possible thanks to the seamless transport provided by Myley Tours. The residents extended a special thank you to their driver, Mandy, whose help ensured the journey was smooth and enjoyable for all.
Events like these highlight the importance of staying active and connected, proving that a love for learning and a good chat over cake never goes out of style.
