Day Care

At Tanglewood we recognise that some people are not ready to move into a care home permanently or ready for any overnight stays. We do also recognise that as a carer you may still require support, and that you or your loved one may require some social interactions with other individuals. We can support you with this by offering day care services. Our Elderly Day Care services offer support for older adults who would benefit from company, engagement, and a safe environment without needing a permanent move. Day Care also provides essential respite for family carers, giving you a planned, guilt-free break from your caring responsibilities.

Tanglewood’s Approach To Elderly Day Care

When you or your loved one joins us for Day Care, our focus is simple: comfort, safety, and meaningful engagement. We aim to reduce the pressure of day-to-day caring, giving you time to rest while ensuring your loved one has an enjoyable and fulfilling day. Guests enjoy a freshly cooked, nutritious meal, along with snacks and drinks throughout the day. Activities are a blend of structured sessions and relaxed social opportunities, all designed to stimulate cognitive function and encourage connection. We know that spending time apart can be difficult. If you have concerns, we can create a gentle transition plan. Many families begin with short one-hour visits alongside a familiar person until confidence grows. Our team is always available to support and guide you through this process.

Life at Our Elderly Day Care Homes

Life for a day guest at a Tanglewood home is centred on choice, well-being, and a strong sense of community. All facilities within the home are available to day guests, making each visit feel welcoming and familiar. Our elderly day care residents can join a wide range of activities led by our Activities Coordinators. Past favourites across our homes include soothing reminiscence sessions, light chair yoga, skittles, bingo, and other enjoyable group games. Many of our purpose-built homes offer calm, comfortable spaces for relaxation, such as bright lounges, tearooms, and even onsite hair salons. Safe and secure gardens are also available, offering peaceful outdoor areas to enjoy.

Day Care is available at several Tanglewood homes, and each home has its own active community. At Cloverleaf in Lincoln, guests join in events that build a sense of belonging. They can celebrate Burns Night, attend regular Holy Communion services, or enjoy music and movement sessions that support physical and mental wellbeing.

At Meadows Park in Louth, day guests take part in creative and stimulating activities. Care home residents can try flower arranging or join fun and fitness sessions, all within a warm and supportive setting. Beeston Rise offers a lively social calendar. Day visitors can join themed evenings, such as a Bistro Italiano night, or connect with others at the weekly coffee morning.

Elderly day care homes like Toray Pines and Trent Bridge also focus on building strong community connections. At Trent Bridge, residents can take part in partnerships with local football clubs and join intergenerational activities with groups such as Tiny Talkers. Toray Pines hosts memory cafés and summer fayres, and day care residents are welcome to join these events to enrich their day.  All of our Tanglewood care homes focus on making each day engaging for residents. Guests can join structured activities or simply enjoy time with others in a comfortable, home-like environment.

Person-Centred Support & Our Team

Every individual who attends Elderly Day Care is treated as unique, with their own needs, routines, and preferences. Your Day Care journey begins with a thoughtful assessment to help us understand what matters to you or your loved one. This step is especially important for our Dementia Day Care service, where consistent routines and familiar faces can provide reassurance and comfort.

Our team receives specialist training in Dignity in Care and advanced dementia support. They work closely with external healthcare professionals, including local GPs, to ensure medical needs are understood and supported throughout the day.

Our Commitment to Quality Day Care

We aim to deliver high-quality, professional care across all Day Care services. Each home follows stringent sector standards and is independently inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We are proud of the ratings our care homes achieve. We use feedback from inspections, families, and residents to continuously improve. By collaborating with specialists and community partners, we ensure our services remain safe, responsive, and inclusive.

How do I arrange Day Care?

Contact your local Tanglewood home to speak with a specialist. We will complete a needs assessment to understand the person’s requirements, interests and preferences. Then we can discuss attendance options that suit your family.

If the individual feels nervous, we can create a gradual introduction plan with shorter visits until they feel comfortable.

How much does Day Care cost?

Elderly day care prices vary depending on the person’s needs, the number of hours required and the home they attend. For an accurate quote, speak directly with your preferred Tanglewood home.
