“Life began with waking up and loving my mother’s face.”

The lounge at Abbey Wood Lodge was transformed into a sea of floral tributes and celebration on 15th March as the care home hosted a special Mother’s Day afternoon tea.
The event saw 47 mothers at the home celebrated for their lifetime of love and dedication. Among them, 13 mums were joined by their families for the formal afternoon tea service, enjoying a day filled with laughter and nostalgic connection.
The home’s culinary team pulled out all the stops, serving a traditional spread that included:
The setting was as delightful as the food. A beautiful balloon arch served as a backdrop for family photos, while the lounge featured floral centrepieces arranged in delicate china cups, made up by the in-house Gardening Club. Adding a personal touch, the tables were adorned with heartwarming quotes about mothers, creating an atmosphere of reflection and gratitude.
Staff at the Ormskirk-based home, which is part of the Tanglewood Care Homes group, noted that such events are vital for maintaining the strong bonds between residents and their loved ones.
“It was a gentle, joyful afternoon,” one staff member remarked. “Seeing our residents surrounded by their loving families is what making these memories is all about”.
