Love, Laughter, and Smooth Jazz at Hunter’s Creek

Love was certainly in the air this February at Tanglewood, but the celebration was about much more than just romance—it was a day dedicated to community, nostalgia, and the simple joy of shared moments. For Valentine’s Day this month, the bar at Hunter’s Creek was packed to bursting with laughter, smooth rhythms, sophisticated treats, and plenty of heartfelt “cheers!”

The room was filled with the irresistible scent of chocolate and the soulful sounds of classic New York jazz. Residents gathered together to enjoy an afternoon of indulgence, sipping on refreshingly chilled non-alcoholic ciders, beers, and wines and treating themselves to snacks and heart-shaped chocolates. To make the day even more special, we were delighted to surprise our wonderful residents with spa day hampers, a small token of our appreciation designed to bring a little extra pampering and relaxation to their week.

However, the true magic lay in the memories being revisited. For one devoted couple, the day held a double significance—a Birthday and Valentine’s Day combined. In a poignant, emotional moment, one resident’s wife shared how the afternoon felt like a beautiful bridge to their past. With a tear in her eye, she remarked that the lively social atmosphere and the music brought back vivid, fond memories of the dates they had shared many years ago. She expressed that knowing her husband has such a vibrant, welcoming space to enjoy today has given her a truly profound sense of joy and peace.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without a few standout characters! Our resident Zena was in her element, singing to her heart’s content and filling the room with song. Not to be outdone, our resident Villius quickly became the star of the show behind the camera and the counter. Not content with just being a guest, Villius volunteered to snap some pics and assist the team in running the bar, “busking” drinks to his friends and ensuring everyone’s glass stayed full. His infectious energy and helpful spirit kept the room buzzing with laughter and light. It was a Valentine’s Day that truly hit all the right notes, proving that at Hunter’s Creek, the best memories are the ones we make together.
