Lambs at Richard House

Residents at our Richard House Care Home in Grantham enjoyed a surprise visit from the sweetest spring lambs, organised by the homes Activities Coordinator Anita Asken. The soft, adorable lambs arrived courtesy of Hungerton Farm, and willingly allowed residents to pet them and were not averse to a heartfelt cuddle.

Handling the soft, gentle lambs brought back happy memories for some residents, who recalled having them in their homes when they were children. Their recollections inspired some interesting comparisons between today and yesteryear, when it was not unusual for families to keep their own livestock. Residents agreed it was a lovely aspect of their formative years, and gave them a lasting love of farm animals.

Care Manager Karl Piddington-Smith said, ’It was lovely for both the residents and staff to meet the lambs that came into Richard House. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed meeting, petting and feeding the little lambs. Animals really do have a positive impact when residents get to meet them and get up close to them.’’
