Humberston House Care Home in Grimsby Celebrates ‘Outstanding’ CQC Rating

Humberston House Care Home in Grimsby has achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the highest rating available.

The home received the rating after its first full inspection, which took place between September and October 2025. Humberston House opened in November 2023.

Located on Blackthorn Avenue, the 72-bed, purpose-built care home impressed inspectors with its strong leadership, person-centred care, and clear focus on resident wellbeing.

CQC Praises Residential and Dementia Care

The CQC report highlighted the home’s welcoming “home from home” environment and praised the staff’s commitment to high-quality care.

Inspectors noted:

• “Wonderfully caring and considerate staff” who respect dignity

• Team members who go “above and beyond” to meet residents’ wishes

• Strong leadership and effective management that keep people safe

• Personalised activities shaped by residents’ life experiences

Residents compared the atmosphere to a luxury hotel. One resident said, “I’m getting used to this decadence.” Another added, “The staff are ever so lovely. I have no complaints at all.”

Family members described the care as “first-class” and the staff as “second to none.”

Supporting Independence & Wellbeing

Inspectors also praised how staff support confidence and independence.

After the team organised a visit to a tribute concert, one resident told inspectors:

“Since going out, I have gained more confidence and feel like myself again. My relatives were over the moon.”

The report confirmed that staff respect residents’ choices and place personal preferences at the centre of daily routines and activities.
