Golden Wedding Anniversary at Trent Bridge Care Home

At Trent Bridge Care Home in West Bridgford, Nottingham, our team loves to create special moments that make life brighter for residents. We recently celebrated a very special milestone: Kath and David Henderson’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Kath and David moved into our luxury care home near Nottingham city centre earlier this year. Staff and residents welcomed them quickly, and everyone was excited to help mark their golden wedding anniversary.

A Trip Back to Their Wedding Day

Kath kept the delicate headpiece she wore in 1975. David kept the tie he wore that day, too. Our team arranged these keepsakes in a display inside our home in West Bridgford, close to Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. The couple loved seeing these reminders of their wedding.

To celebrate, they enjoyed a bottle of champagne and a lamb tagine, which was their chosen anniversary meal.

A Nottingham Love Story With Adventures Around the World

Kath and David met at a social club in Middlesbrough in 1974. They felt a spark on their first date at Hardwick Hall and stayed side by side ever since. They travelled widely over the years, visiting China, Borneo and even the Antarctic. When at home in Nottinghamshire, they enjoyed bowls, music and theatre together.

Their family includes David’s two daughters and their two grandsons, all proud of their strong partnership.

Settling Into Life in West Bridgford

Moving to a care home can be a big step, but Kath and David say they felt welcome from the start at Trent Bridge. The home sits close to Nottingham, Edwalton, Lady Bay and the wider Rushcliffe community, which makes it easy for family and friends to visit.

Kath said:

“It’s been a big change moving into Trent Bridge, but the love and care everyone has shown us—especially for our anniversary—has meant the world.”

David added:

“We are deeply grateful for the care and community we’ve found here. The staff are lovely, and we felt so much warmth from everyone all day.”

Golden Anniversary Filled With Joy

Care Manager Luke Staples praised the couple:

“We wanted to do something special for Kath and David. Their warmth and positivity inspire everyone around them. It was an honour to help them celebrate this milestone.”

When asked about the secret to a long marriage, Kath said simply,
“Supporting one another through the tough times.”

At Tanglewood Care Homes, we take pride in celebrating the lives, stories and achievements of every resident. Kath and David’s golden anniversary was a reminder of the love and community at the heart of Trent Bridge Care Home in West Bridgford.
