Valentine’s Day was filled with warmth and connection at Sleaford Hall Care Home, where residents enjoyed a beautiful celebration of friendship, creativity and shared moments with loved ones and local children.
The festivities began with a hands-on baking session as residents lovingly made batches of traditional shortbread biscuits. Once baked, the fun continued when friendly local children were invited in to help decorate the biscuits. Working in small pairs with residents, the children added icing, hearts and chocolate pieces, transforming each treat into a colourful masterpiece. The activity sparked smiles and conversation, with generations coming together to create something special — a true reminder of the joy that community brings.
The Valentine’s celebrations didn’t stop there. Later in the day, residents and their partners were welcomed to a special Valentines Luncheon baked with love and served by Head Chef JP. The menu was a feast of flavour and care, offering guests a choice of chicken in a white wine sauce or salmon with a butter dill sauce, accompanied by boiled new potatoes, tender stem broccoli, asparagus and baby carrots. For dessert, diners enjoyed a choice of fresh fruit salad or indulgent sticky toffee pudding, followed by after-dinner mints and freshly brewed tea and coffee.
The dining room was beautifully transformed for the occasion, with tables adorned with roses, love heart confetti and thoughtful decorations that created a warm and romantic atmosphere. Laughter and conversation flowed as residents and their partners shared a meal to remember, celebrating not just Valentine’s Day but the enduring bonds of love and companionship.
A resident commented on the day’s success:
“It was such a wonderful celebration. Decorating biscuits with the children was lovely, and the luncheon with my partner was absolutely delicious. Thank you for making it so special.”
