Gateford Lodge Resident Enjoys Special Day Out and Salon Treat in Worksop

A resident at Gateford Lodge Care Home recently enjoyed a special day out in Worksop after expressing a wish to visit a hair salon and spend time in the town centre.

Sylvia shared with staff that she would like to experience a traditional salon visit and enjoy a little pampering. In response, the Gateford Lodge team arranged a personalised outing to help make her wish a reality.

Accompanied by Head Chef Naomi and fellow resident Michael, Sylvia spent the day in Worksop, beginning with a relaxing visit to a local coffee shop. Over lattes and conversation, the pair enjoyed spending time together before heading to Sylvia’s appointment.

The highlight of the trip was a visit to Scissorcraft on Potter Street, where Sylvia was treated to the full salon experience. Staff at the salon made her feel welcome from the moment she arrived, and she thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be pampered before leaving feeling refreshed and delighted with her new hairstyle.

While the outing may have seemed like a simple request, staff said it represented something much more significant—supporting residents to continue enjoying the activities they value and maintaining connections with the wider community.

Gateford Lodge places a strong emphasis on helping residents retain their independence and pursue personal interests, whether through community outings, social activities or fulfilling individual wishes.
