When Receptionist Linda brought in her little hand knitted froggies to show staff, she never expected the outpouring of love and attention that they received. So much so that Hunters Creek have decided to adopt their very own and now we have our very first mascot which has been aptly named Fernando Fandango. He was adopted to help bring a smile to all the residents faces and so far, he is doing the job brilliantly – they can’t help but smile when they see him. They love him to bits.
Fernando has a very important job to do. He will be travelling the world with staff from Hunters Creek and bringing back exciting photos, stories and experiences from all the places he has visited. He has his very own rucksack and passport ready to be packed at a minutes notice and a suitcase complete with his own towel, rubber ring and deckchair for the hotter climes.
So far he has travelled to Lanzarote and had a whale of a time with Sam our activities co-ordinator. He is next scheduled to go to Montenegro in 2 weeks time with carer Jacky Meade and following that will be going on an Adriatic Cruise with our maintenance man Nigel stopping in Venice, Dubrovnik, Naples, Croatia, Italy, Florence and Rome. As if that wasn’t enough, Caroline Greaves -regional compliance manager is keen to take him on board her river cruiser caller “Trotter” for a jaunt round the beautiful rivers of Norfolk. Of course, Linda will make sure he is kitted out with a sailor’s outfit ready for this.
Fernando also has a cousin called Bertie, a beautiful yellow frog with bright blue eyes who loves his hoodie and trainers and won’t go anywhere without his skateboard. He currently resides on Ginas desk but in 2 weeks time he is off to sunny Spain for a week of relaxation and fun in the sun with Gina
Fernando and Bertie will be communicating regularly via Facebook – so please search Hunters Creek on Facebook (like and share) to find out what antics they have been getting up to both here and abroad.
You would never think that this little Froggie could create so much interest, love and joy from residents and staff alike – but he does and it’s lovely to see. We love you Fernando.
