Cloverleaf Residents Step Back in Time at the Museum of Lincolnshire Life

Residents recently embarked on another exciting Myley Tours adventure – this time choosing to visit the Museum of Lincolnshire Life, a fascinating celebration of Lincolnshire’s rich culture and heritage dating back to 1750.

The museum’s exhibits beautifully capture the essence of local history, showcasing life through the centuries – from commerce and domestic living to agriculture, industry, and community traditions. Residents thoroughly enjoyed exploring the recreated period rooms, discovering how people once lived and worked, and reminiscing about times gone by.

Highlights of the visit included stepping inside an old-fashioned classroom, complete with wooden desks, and exploring the museum’s impressive military displays. The group was particularly captivated by the First World War trench experience, featuring flashing lights, sound effects, and realistic narration that brought history vividly to life.

The collection of historic vehicles – including tanks, trains, and tractors – also proved to be a firm favourite. As they moved through the exhibits, many residents shared memories of how their grandparents once used similar tools and equipment in the kitchen and laundry room, sparking meaningful conversations and nostalgia.

To round off a wonderful day, everyone gathered in the museum café, where a coffee morning in support of St Barnabas Hospice was taking place. Residents enjoyed a delightful selection of homemade cakes, including lemon drizzle, fruit cake, and Victoria sponge – the perfect end to a day filled with discovery, conversation, and community spirit.

At Cloverleaf Care Home, we’re proud to create opportunities that bring history to life and help our residents connect with the world around them. This visit to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life was not just an educational trip, but a joyful celebration of memories, stories, and shared experiences.
