Care Home’s Grant-a-Wish Campaign Makes Lifelong St Helens Saints Supporter’s Dream Come True

A lifelong St Helens Saints supporter has enjoyed a dream day at the rugby thanks to Abbey Wood Lodge Care Home’s Grant-a-Wish campaign, which helps residents fulfil personal wishes and create lasting memories.

Anne, a resident at Abbey Wood Lodge, was thrilled to attend St Helens Saints’ home fixture against Huddersfield Giants, giving her the opportunity to cheer on the team she has supported since childhood.

Bathed in glorious sunshine, Anne enjoyed an excellent front-row view as the Saints secured an impressive 38–6 victory. Although the warm weather meant she couldn’t wear her treasured Saints scarf, it remained firmly in her hands as she proudly waved it every time the home side crossed the try line.

The match featured standout performances from Curtis Sironen and Jake Davies, who both scored twice as St Helens delighted the home crowd with an entertaining display.

For Anne, the afternoon was about far more than the final score. Having spent many years attending matches with family and friends, returning to the stadium brought back a lifetime of cherished memories and reminded her why she has remained a devoted supporter for so many years.

Smiling from start to finish, Anne soaked up every moment of the occasion, cheering every tackle, break and try while enjoying an ice-cold Coca-Cola in the summer sunshine.
