A New Care Home Opens in Worksop: Welcome to Gateford Lodge

At Tanglewood, we believe that care is about more than buildings and services, it’s about people, connection and feeling at home. Opening Gateford Lodge Care Home in Worksop has been such a special moment for everyone involved.

You’ll find Gateford Lodge in Gateford, just outside Worksop in Nottinghamshire. We built the home to feel calm, friendly and familiar. It offers residential care, dementia care and respite care in Nottinghamshire, with space to relax, socialise and enjoy day-to-day life.

Sheila’s First Day at Gateford Lodge

Our first resident, Sheila Snowden, grew up in Worksop and has lived locally for almost 90 years. Many people will remember her from Boots pharmacy on Worksop high street, where she worked for most of her career.

Sheila lived in her family home for more than 66 years. She chose Gateford Lodge care home so she can stay close to the town and community she loves.

“Community is everything,” Sheila says.

Life Outdoors, Close to Home

Sheila has always enjoyed the outdoors. For years, she walked with a local rambling group that met at Kilton Golf Course. She now looks forward to spending time in our gardens. She plans to do some gardening and enjoy the fresh air.

Outdoor space matters at Gateford Lodge. It supports wellbeing and helps residents keep doing the things they enjoy.

Opening Day Celebration in Gateford, Worksop

We marked the opening of this new Worksop care home with a community celebration. Local residents, families and care professionals joined us for the day.

Sheila opened the home alongside Tony Eaton, Chair of Bassetlaw District Council. They cut the ribbon together to celebrate a new start for Gateford Lodge and the people who will live here.

Guests also enjoyed performances from children at Gateford Park Primary School and live music from singer Holly Coulson

“I was very happy to be chosen to cut the ribbon,” Sheila said. “It made me feel special, and I enjoyed celebrating with everyone.”
