On Thursday, 15th August, Avocet House Care Home proudly hosted an afternoon tea event to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness. The event was held in their beautiful tearoom, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere. For those unable to stay for the full afternoon tea, a selection of cakes, scones, tea, and coffee was available for takeaway.
In the UK, every 10 minutes, someone hears the devastating words, “you have breast cancer.” Avocet hoped that the donations received from the event would help support those affected every step of the way.
The impact of the donations was highlighted during the event
Raising £30 could help someone access the free and confidential helpline, where they can speak with specialist breast cancer nurses and trained staff.
Raising £60 could fund two hours of world-class research, bringing the world two hours closer to a breakthrough in breast cancer treatment and care.
Raising £130 could keep Becca, the breast cancer support app, running for a month, providing essential support to those in need.
This cause holds a special place in the hearts of everyone at Avocet. Although they did not set a specific fundraising goal, they hoped to raise around £200. To their delight, the final count revealed an impressive total of £317.96!
Avocet extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the event and contributed to raising such an amazing amount. A special thanks also goes out to those who helped make the event a resounding success.
With such positive results, Avocet looks forward to hosting similar events in the future—stay tuned for more!
