Avocet House Goes Back in Time with an ABBA FABBA 1970s Celebration

Avocet House was alive with music, colour, and sparkle as residents, team members, and guests came together for a spectacular ABBA FABBA Day, celebrating all things 1970s in true disco style.

The festivities began with a lively seated dance workout to ABBA’s greatest hits, setting the tone for a day filled with laughter, rhythm, and joyful nostalgia. Everyone joined in the fun, donning vibrant 70s-inspired outfits complete with sequins, flares, and plenty of glitter.

Throughout the day, residents shared fond memories of the 1970s, reminiscing about their favourite moments from the decade. The talented Avocet House kitchen team prepared a delicious retro buffet featuring party classics such as cheese and pineapple sticks and vol-au-vents, all crowned by a show-stopping ABBA dance floor–inspired cake.

The celebrations reached their peak with an evening of entertainment from the wonderful Alison Jay, whose performance had everyone singing, clapping, and dancing along to timeless ABBA tunes. The atmosphere was filled with colour, laughter, and joy as the hits of the Swedish supergroup brought generations together.

The fun didn’t stop there — the following day, the excitement continued with an ABBA-themed quiz, where residents tested their knowledge of the band’s music. With each question featuring a musical clue, the quiz quickly turned into another singalong, proving that ABBA’s magic truly lives on.
