Activities at Hunters Creek Care Home

Every day at Hunters Creek starts with the people who live here.

Everyone has their own interests, routines and favourite ways to spend their time, so no two days look exactly the same. From family celebrations and community events to creative hobbies, live entertainment and days out, life at Hunters Creek reflects the people who call it home.

Creative Activities, Exercise and Live Entertainment

No two residents enjoy spending their time in quite the same way.

That’s why activities at Hunters Creek grow around residents’ interests rather than a fixed timetable. Whether it’s learning something new, picking up a favourite hobby again or simply enjoying time with friends, there’s always something to look forward to.

Creativity means something different to everyone.

The Crochet Club brings together residents who enjoy knitting, crochet and crafts, creating a relaxed space where conversations flow just as naturally as the stitching.

Staying active doesn’t have to mean strenuous exercise.

During football-themed sessions gentle movement, teamwork and plenty of laughter come together, often sparking conversations about favourite teams and sporting memories.

Few things bring people together quite like music. That’s exactly what happened during performances from Charlie Sinclair and an electronic violin performance, where familiar songs and live entertainment quickly filled the home with singing, conversation and smiles.

Behind every activity is a team that takes the time to understand what residents genuinely enjoy.

Meet our Activities Coordinators and discover how they continue introducing new ideas while making sure every resident can take part in a way that suits them.

Whether it’s picking up a crochet hook, enjoying live music or sharing a laugh during a football session, it’s often these everyday moments that residents continue talking about long afterwards.

Family and Community Activities

Staying connected to the local community is an important part of life at Hunters Creek.

Whether welcoming visitors into the home or spending time with local organisations, those relationships help residents remain connected to the people and places that have always been important to them.

Families are encouraged to spend quality time with their loved ones, with regular events designed to bring generations together in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Throughout the year, residents and visitors enjoy our family fun days where shared activities, entertainment and great food create memorable experiences for everyone involved.

The home also enjoys hosting events that strengthen community relationships while supporting worthwhile causes. During our community charity fundraising event residents, relatives and local supporters came together to raise money while enjoying an afternoon filled with friendship and entertainment. Community spirit was equally evident during our Children in Need bake sale, where residents helped support another important charitable cause.

Some of the most meaningful moments at Hunters Creek come from reconnecting people. Residents have experienced emotional reunions through long-lost friends meeting again after many years while another resident enjoyed a surprise visit from someone special. These occasions demonstrate the home’s commitment to preserving important relationships and creating moments that families will always remember.

Technology, thoughtful planning and strong community links also help residents stay close to loved ones when distance might otherwise make visits difficult. This was beautifully demonstrated when one resident was reunited with a much-loved family member, showing how maintaining meaningful relationships remains central to life at Hunters Creek.

By encouraging family involvement, supporting local causes and nurturing lifelong friendships, Hunters Creek creates a genuine community where residents feel connected, valued and supported. These relationships enrich everyday life and help make the home a welcoming place for residents, relatives and visitors alike.

Animal Therapy and Wellbeing Activities

Animals have a wonderful way of bringing people together.

For many residents, they also bring back memories of much-loved family pets, countryside walks and years spent caring for animals. Whether it’s a familiar face or a more unusual visitor, every visit creates something new to talk about.

That’s exactly what happened during Donna’s Animal Rescue visit. Residents met rescued animals, learnt about their stories and soon found themselves sharing memories of pets and animals that had been part of their own lives.

The surprises continued during a ZooLab visit.

Meeting fascinating animals up close sparked plenty of curiosity, with many residents handling creatures they had never encountered before. It was an experience that had everyone talking long after the visit had finished.

Animal companionship doesn’t end when the visitors leave. Fernando Fandango, the home’s mischievous feathered friend has quickly become part of daily life, with his playful personality bringing smiles wherever he goes.

Charity Events and Special Celebrations

Some of the most memorable moments at Hunters Creek happen when people come together.

Whether supporting a local charity, celebrating a personal milestone or welcoming families into the home, these occasions strengthen the connections that make the community around Hunters Creek so special.

Giving something back is an important part of life at the home.

Residents, relatives and local supporters came together during the Community Charity Event, while the Children in Need Community Bake Sale brought everyone together for another worthwhile cause.

The same caring spirit was evident when colleagues supported a flood-affected team member through the Hunters Creek Team Rally.

Many of the most treasured moments come from helping residents reconnect with the people and memories that matter most. Residents have enjoyed emotional reunions with loved ones during special family reconnections while another resident experienced an unforgettable surprise during a carefully arranged visit. Hunters Creek also celebrated a particularly touching occasion when long-lost friends were reunited after many years, creating a day that will be remembered by everyone involved.

Celebrating one another is just as important. Residents and families came together to mark 62 years of marriage, while the Hunters Creek Awards saw residents themselves take centre stage as hosts.

Hunters Creek also celebrates the achievements of its own team members. Residents proudly supported Nurse Lewis following his Santa Fun Run fundraising success, while staff development was recognised through Edgar’s well-deserved promotion. The home has also welcomed new members to its activities team, introducing residents to their dedicated Activities Coordinators, whose creativity continues to shape the home’s busy social calendar.
