November was a month to remember at Abbey Wood Lodge Care Home as residents, families, and friends came together to celebrate the home’s 10th birthday and enjoy a delightful Christmas outing.
The festivities began on November 11th with a spectacular 10th birthday celebration. The home welcomed families and friends for a morning of cake, coffee, and conversations, reminiscing about cherished moments from past and present. The celebrations continued with a delicious buffet lunch, but the highlight was the afternoon party featuring entertainment from ‘Wild Bill.’ Residents and guests danced along to his lively musical performance, learned a few line dancing moves, and savoured birthday cake and refreshments. Smiles, laughter, and swaying arms filled the room as unforgettable memories were made.
A week later, the festive season kicked off with a trip to Bents Garden Centre in Warrington. Residents explored the stunning Christmas displays, marvelling at the intricate tree designs and a mesmerizing miniature festive village. The group even had the chance to meet Santa and pose for a memorable photo!
The visit wouldn’t have been complete without a stop at the café for hot drinks and cake. Residents enjoyed every bite of the delicious treats, though the famously large scone proved a challenge! The only disappointment of the day was having to leave such a magical place.
The trip was made even more enjoyable thanks to their jovial coach driver, John, whose playful jokes and good humour had everyone laughing, especially his quips about preparing for his “upcoming driving test!”
A huge thank you to Myley Tours for making the outing possible. The residents are already looking forward to their next adventure in January!
