There was an overwhelming sense of pride and emotion at Toray Pines as we welcomed Chris, lovingly known by his mum Tina as her “Baby Boy,” during the first leg of his incredible Tuk Tuk our challenge.
Chris set off on a remarkable journey, driving his Tuk Tuk from Skegness to Blackpool, all in aid of Race Against Dementia — a cause incredibly close to his heart as he continues to support and honour his mum Tina, one of our much-loved residents living with dementia.
When Chris stopped by Toray Pines, the atmosphere was nothing short of magical. Residents were thrilled to climb aboard the brightly coloured tuk tuk, sharing laughter, smiles, and plenty of memories as they cheered him on for the adventure ahead. It was a truly special afternoon that brought everyone together and highlighted the power of community, family, and determination.
Adding to the excitement Chris and our fabulous Deputy Manager Emma also appeared on Calendar News speaking openly about dementia and the impact it has on families across the country. Their heartfelt interview helped shine a light on the importance of raising awareness, supporting families, and continuing the fight for better research and understanding of dementia.
And now, we are absolutely delighted to say… THEY DID IT!
Chris successfully completed his incredible Tuk Tuk challenge all the way to Blackpool, and thanks to the kindness and generosity of supporters far and wide, he has raised an astonishing amount for Race Against Dementia — with his JustGiving page sitting just shy of an incredible £14,000!
Everyone at Toray Pines could not be prouder of Chris and the love, strength, and dedication he has shown throughout this journey for his wonderful mum Tina. He has inspired so many people and reminded us all just how powerful love and determination can be.
