World Book Day 2026 wasn’t just about celebrating the love of literature here at Hunters Creek—it marked the beginning of a brand-new chapter for our home! This week, residents and staff gathered with great excitement for the grand reopening of our beautifully renovated Library room.
The atmosphere was electric as we prepared to unveil the transformation. The honours of the official ribbon-cutting were performed by our very own Rita, the Resident Chair of our newly founded Newspaper Club. With a steady hand and a bright smile, Rita snipped the yellow ribbon to a resounding round of applause, declaring the library officially open for business!
We were also joined by a very distinguished, albeit remarkably quiet, guest of honour: a life-size cardboard standee of His Majesty King Charles. Standing tall in his blue suit, “The King” oversaw the proceedings and provided a fantastic photo opportunity for residents, adding a wonderful touch of royal flair to our special day.
The feedback regarding the renovation has been heartwarming. The library has been redesigned to be a bright, welcoming sanctuary for all. Many residents have already commented on how much they prefer the new layout, noting that the room looks “simply lovely” and so inviting. Perhaps the biggest hit, however, has been the new furniture. The consensus is unanimous: the chairs are incredibly comfortable—perfect for those long afternoons when you just can’t put a good book down!
Of course, no celebration at Hunters Creek is complete without a proper treat. Following the ceremony, everyone enjoyed a delightful social hour featuring a silver-service spread of tea, coffee, and plenty of biscuits. It has been wonderful to see the room immediately put to use; a significant number of books have already been lent out, with residents eager to dive into new mysteries and classic tales.
Whether you’re looking to join Rita at the Newspaper Club or simply want a quiet corner to enjoy a thriller, your new library is ready for you. Happy reading!
