A Morning Full of Memories as Cloverleaf Residents Take on 5K Memory Walk

Residents and staff from Cloverleaf Care Home in Lincoln enjoyed a very special morning of fresh air, friendship and treasured memories as they took part in an Alzheimer’s Day 5K Memory Walk on Lincoln’s beautiful West Common.

The walk brought together residents, staff, relatives, friends and members of the local community, all coming together to support a cause that means so much to so many families. The group was also joined by a very special four-legged companion, Bruno, who was more than happy to take part in the morning’s adventure.

For Cloverleaf’s residents, the event was about much more than simply completing five kilometres. It was an opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy the surroundings and spend meaningful time together.

As the group made their way around the Common, there were plenty of smiles, laughter and conversations, with residents taking time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and each other’s company. The fresh air, greenery and open space provided the perfect setting for a morning centred around connection, wellbeing and making memories.

One particularly memorable moment came when the group encountered some of the horses who live on the Common. Several of the residents stopped to say hello, and the sight of their faces lighting up as they met the horses was a highlight of the morning.

For the team at Cloverleaf, moments like this are at the heart of what they aim to provide for their residents — meaningful experiences that encourage people to remain connected with their local community, enjoy the outdoors and continue to make new memories.

Activities Lead Vicki said the morning had been incredibly special:

“It was such a lovely morning and exactly what we hoped it would be. We wanted our residents to enjoy themselves, get out into the fresh air and have an experience that they would remember. Seeing everyone smiling, chatting and enjoying themselves was wonderful, but meeting the horses was a particularly special moment.

“It’s easy to think of a 5K walk simply as a fundraising event, but for us it was so much more than that. It was about spending time together, being part of our local community and creating those little moments that mean so much to our residents.”

The event has also received fantastic support from the local community, with donations exceeding £200! The team have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown so far. Every contribution will help support the important work of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The team would also like to thank everyone who joined them for the walk, donated, encouraged them or simply helped make the morning so memorable.

For the residents of Cloverleaf, the morning was a wonderful reminder that some of life’s most precious memories can come from the simplest experiences — a walk in the sunshine, a good conversation, a familiar face, a wagging tail or an unexpected encounter with a horse.

And as the group returned home after their 5K, there was plenty to smile about.

It may have been a 5K Memory Walk, but at Cloverleaf, it was really a morning about making memories that matter.
