A Little Bit of What You Like Does You Good

At Lindley Park Care Home, we believe that maintaining a good quality of life is about more than meeting people’s care needs. It is about supporting residents to continue enjoying the things they love, exploring new experiences, and making meaningful memories. After all, a little bit of what you like does you good!

One resident, Winnie, recently shared with staff that she had always enjoyed trying different foods and would love to go out for a curry. While her family are not particularly keen on this type of cuisine, Winnie was eager to experience something different and enjoy a meal she had been looking forward to.

Hearing how much this meant to Winnie, Debbie was more than happy to make the arrangements. Together, they headed out into the local community to enjoy a delicious meal at Najjo’s Punjabi Kitchen.

The outing gave Winnie the opportunity to try the flavours she enjoys, spend quality time chatting over a meal, and enjoy a change of scenery away from her usual routine. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was delighted to have the chance to choose something that reflected her own personal tastes and interests.

Supporting residents to pursue their preferences, however big or small, is an important part of person-centred care. Activities such as dining out can promote independence, boost confidence, and enhance emotional wellbeing. They also provide valuable opportunities for social interaction, community engagement, and creating happy memories.

Winnie’s trip is a wonderful example of how listening to residents and supporting their individual wishes can have a positive impact. The smiles, laughter, and enjoyment throughout the afternoon showed just how important these experiences can be.

We are proud to support residents in continuing to enjoy the things that matter to them, whether that’s revisiting old favourites, trying something new, or simply having a little treat every now and again.

Because life should continue to be filled with choice, enjoyment, and opportunities to do the things you love.
