The ladies from Abbey Wood Lodge Care Home enjoyed a delightful afternoon in the sunshine during a visit to the Southport Botanical Gardens yesterday — and what a wonderful day it was!
The outing began with a visit to the aviary, where we were greeted by a lively chorus of chirps, whistles, and chatter from the parrots and other birds. Their playful personalities brought plenty of laughter and joy to the group.
Next, we explored The Fernery — a lush, green oasis that felt like stepping into a tropical jungle. The residents were captivated by the rich variety of plants, trees, and vibrant blooms surrounding the gardens, taking in the beauty of nature at every turn.
After a leisurely stroll, we paused at the café to enjoy a well-deserved refreshment and a delicious ice cream, which was the perfect treat on such a warm day.
We ended the visit by the water, feeding the birds and chatting with friendly passersby — including a few four-legged companions. The peaceful setting offered a perfect moment to relax and soak up the serene atmosphere.
It was heartwarming to hear so many lovely comments from the ladies on the way home, reflecting on how much they had enjoyed the outing.
A heartfelt thank you to Mandy from Myley Tours for helping to make the trip possible. We’re already looking forward to our next adventure!
