Trent Bridge Care Home Proud to Support Meaningful Work Experience for Young Volunteer

Trent Bridge Care Home is proud to be supporting a young man in gaining valuable work experience through a dedicated supported service.

Cameron, who is autistic and largely non-verbal, communicates selectively through speech and expresses himself confidently through body language and Makaton. He attends his weekly work placement via the Outreach service at Space Inclusive Ltd, an East Midlands-based organisation that supports individuals with learning disabilities and autism.

Accompanied by his dedicated one-to-one support worker, Mike, Cameron has taken on a range of duties at Trent Bridge with enthusiasm and commitment. His role primarily focuses on assisting with the upkeep of our gardens — helping with weeding and ensuring outdoor spaces are welcoming and well-maintained for residents and their families.

Beyond his work placement, Cameron has also embraced community life at Trent Bridge, joining our Friday coffee mornings and participating in baking and cake decorating sessions.

Providing Cameron with a meaningful volunteering opportunity has not only offered him immense personal satisfaction but has also brought great joy to our community. His pride in his work is clear to see, and we are honoured to play a part in his journey towards greater independence and confidence.

Sally Tebbett, Home Manager of Trent Bridge said:
“Seeing Cameron flourish and contribute so positively to our home is truly inspiring. We are thrilled to support him and look forward to seeing him continue to grow.”
