This week residents and team members at Holbeach Meadows celebrated 45 years since the UK release of the Grease movie with a 1950s Day!
Lounges were decorated and 1950s music played throughout the home all day long to set the scene, along with team members dressing up, which really made the residents smile and laugh.
We enjoyed a traditional 1950s lunch menu, reminisced together about what residents were doing in the 50s and enjoyed a fabulous ‘The Way We Were’ DVD, which brought back lots of fond memories.
Later in the afternoon we enjoyed a concert from our Front of House Manager Martin, who sang some old favourites while we enjoyed our afternoon cup of tea and some old fashioned style sweets and treats.
Residents said “I liked Martin’s singing because it was all 50s music which is nice and there was a lot of effort with the costumes.” “Typical 50s food and the documentary followed with the music was a good day, the dressing up was nice to see.” “Was a nice day I enjoyed myself and really enjoyed the singing.” “I thought it was really great, was nice to move to the music.”
Home Manager Gemma said, “we had a fantastic 1950s day, we hold themed days on a regular basis and enjoy having fun with the residents as a team. They really are something to look forward to. The decoration of the home, the activities for the day and the team dressing up make the day different for the residents. It is great to have the whole team involved, the effort they go to is a testament to the dedication they have to the residents.”
Holbeach Meadows next themed event will be their monthly armchair travel session, this month residents have chosen Australia!
